The internationally renowned obstacle race, Spartan, is coming to Fiji on a three year partnership, starting in November 2023 with their Trifecta event.
The race will be Fiji’s first major tourism event since covid and is an opportunity to showcase the country’s event hosting capabilities and diverse tourism offerings.
Spartan events attract a large global audience and we expect thousands of participants from Australia, New Zealand, the US and Asia to travel to Fiji for an adventure holiday and real local experience.
The Fiji Government has also agreed to support the event that is expected to attract 3000 people into the country, says Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he said the event would be a first of its kind in Fiji.
“I wanted the Government to contribute towards that to a tune of $750,000 and I was given the approval,” Mr Gavoka said.
“In turn, the event will bring in a significant amount of money into the country and about 3000 people will be in Fiji for a week.”
He said they were happy Fiji was chosen as the host country.
“The event is like an obstacle course and it’s done in the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand.
“This will be the first they will come to Fiji and we are just happy that this will take place.”
